| Important Information for Florida Electrical and Alarm Contractors |
| Florida Statute 489.518 and 489.5185 requires in part that all Electrical and Alarm contractors who install, sell or service burglar and fire alarms, closed circuit television, intercoms, access control, etc. must: 1. Require any new employee who faces the public (i.e. Sales, Service and Installation) within the first 90 days of employment complete an initial BASA or FASA training of no less than 14 hours in length by a training provider licensed by the Florida Dept of Business and Professional Regulation. Employees who have received initial training must complete 6 hours of continuing education each two years prior to expiration of their cards. 2. The employer at his or her sole expense must submit fingerprints of each new employee to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for verification of the non existence of a criminal background. The contractor should note that he or she must re-apply to the FDLE with new fingerprint cards EACH two years, upon the renewal of each BASA or FASA card. Termark Technical Institute can provide a fingerprinting service at a additional charge, should the employer be unable or unwilling to see such a service in his or her local area. Fingerprint cards are available from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or our office in limited quantities Please note: The State of Florida - Department of Business and Professional Regulation does not authorize ANY Training Provider permission to offer the BASA or FASA courses ONLINE. You MUST take the course in-person. |
